Air Fryer Fried Chicken with Hot Honey

Ingredients:

  • 4 pieces of chicken thighs (bone-in, skin-on)
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce (like Frank's RedHot)
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted

Kitchen Tools Needed:

  • Air fryer
  • Mixing bowls
  • Measuring cups
  • Measuring spoons
  • Tongs

Instructions:

  • In a large bowl, marinate the chicken thighs in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes (or overnight for best results).
  • In another bowl, mix together the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.
  • Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off, then dredge each piece in the flour mixture, ensuring an even coating.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C).
  • Place the coated chicken thighs in the air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure they are not overcrowded.
  • Cook the chicken for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the skin is crispy.
  • While the chicken is cooking, prepare the hot honey by mixing honey, hot sauce, and melted butter in a small bowl.
  • Once the chicken is done, drizzle the hot honey over the fried chicken before serving.
